The Blackberry Torch 9800 Is Technicologically Advanced
The Blackberry Torch 9800 is one RIMs best efforts yet
, it combines enhanced multimedia with superb messaging and online features which include social networking and GPS. Users can enjoy a brand new UI thanks to the Blackberry 6 OS which has been debuted on the device and the inclusion of an advanced digital camera rounds of a pretty impressive spec list.
To look at, the Torch is very nice; modernized design teams up with robust build quality to deliver a reliable smartphone device for the fashion conscious. The styling of the phone is luxurious and futuristic, aesthetically it is probably best suited to business users, but the phones features tell a different story.
RIM have been accused of focusing there Blackberry phones on the higher class, business users, while making it less accessible to everyone else. But the Torch 9800 is a step in the right direction, the new Blackberry 6 OS does loo and feel a little similar to the 5 OS, but there have been a few tweaks to incorporate the touch user interface. The device has been given a gorgeous 3.2 inch touch screen which can produce over 16M colours in a pixel resolution of 480 x 360. The display has been loaded with multi touch technology which enables users to operate with multiple digits, this also incorporates pinch and zoom.
The internet can be accessed via Wi Fi and there is also coverage for 3G and cellular networks. The browser hosts intuitive controls and a very reliable search engine. It is possible to save bookmarks and uploading images and videos can be performed with sites such as YouTube and Facebook.
A messaging app covers all the basics; SMS, MMS, e-mail and Instant Messaging with all the big names from Google, Yahoo and Microsoft being compatible. The Blackberry Torch 9800 is pre-loaded with dedicated apps for Facebook and Twitter, but other networks like Flickr can also be managed. One of the many key features of the hone is the slide QWERTY keyboard; able to be slickly dropped from behind the screen, it nicely sized keys for accurate typing.
For the first time since I can remember, RIM has included a good digital camera system. The 5MP camera is well supported with tons of settings, image editing and sharing tools. It is able to film in high resolution and still image come out clear and crisp.
Along with the basics like playing music and videos, the Torch also supports FM radio and GPS, you can expand the phones memory via a microSD slot, and as society now dictates you also get a 3.5mm jack for headphones so the phone can be used as a portable entertainments device as well as a phone. The Blackberry App World can be accessed direct from the phone and it provides a long list of downloadable apps to enrich the user experience.
The Blackberry Torch 9800 has plenty of mass appeal as it is now accessible to more than one type of buyer. The phone covers all fields of mobile technology reasonably well and the addition of a highly capable camera will be a major selling point.
