The display of the phone uses cutting edge Super AMOLED technology to produce incredibly rich colour tones as well as great viewing angles. The depth of colour can be attributed to the lack of a backlight which can traditionally wash colours out. The official resolution of the screen is an impressive 480 x 800 pixels, and being a capacitive touchscreen it benefits from excellent responsiveness, which along with its overall size makes for a very pleasing user experience.

The Samsung Galaxy S features a host of top end features that will appeal to a wide range of customers. The phones processor is lightning fast and is clocked at 1Ghz. This ARM Cortex A8 chip comfortably handles all that the handset can throw at it. Memory options on the handset are extensive. The unit comes with either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory, with the larger option set to appeal to user more interested in utilising the phones great media features. A micro SD card slot is also present, meaning a further 32GB of storage can be added if required, meaning a potential total memory 48GB. The phone uses the Android 2.1 operating system with Samsungs own TouchWiz user interface overlaid. A total of seven homescreens are offered for you to place your widgets on, an these are accessed by scrolling horizontally. Four ever present icons for the phones main functions such as Messaging and Phone are present on every screen. Swype text input makes messaging on the handset a much quicker affair, meaning you just move your finger across the screen to your desired keys rather than having to individually press each one.

The Samsung Galaxy S will win many fans thanks to the huge screen and great functionality, and is certainly worth adding to the wishlist of anybody contemplating an Apple or HTC purchase.
