The Busy Office
Having recently started a business, you are ready to move into your new office
. You have found the office that suits your budget and your needs, and now you will need office furniture. The office furniture you choose will depend on your requirements and your budget.
As you will require office furniture for a large open plan communal office that will accommodate at least six office workers, you will need to take into consideration the space, design, seating and working area needs, type of office furniture and furniture arrangement. Do you want single desks or a cluster arrangement?
This is where we discuss the type of office furniture you would need. Firstly, decide what type of desk will best suit you. If you are in a profession, such as medical, or dental, then a solid wood traditional desk, large, with enough drawers and top workspace might be good. You might want something more modern, slate or granite is a good choice.
Once you have chosen the desk you want for your office, you will want to think about the right chair to go with your new desk. You will want comfort, as well as support, so buy the best quality your budget allows. The chair should have wheels, for mobility, yet be sturdy. Office chairs come with, or without, armrests.
The next item of office furniture you could use in your office is seating for your clients. You would need two seats in front of your desk, which should be comfortable, in a suitable color, and if your office allows the space, a more informal seating arrangement, such as a couch, or two chairs around a small coffee table.
You will need adequate storage for the many files you will have, so might need to think about using one wall, or part of the wall, mainly for filing cabinets. These could be low pull out cabinets, with space on the tops that can be utilized, or a bank of tall cabinets.
If your desk does not come with drawers, even when a desk has drawers they sometimes are not enough, you could use a set of drawers on wheels. These are very handy, as once you are in business for some time you will appreciate the extra drawer space.
Now that your desk is set up, and your office is almost completely furnished, you will want to have a computer or a laptop on the desk. Even home offices need a computer to contact clients, and keep track of work projects plus the many other uses a personal computer has.
With an office with many workers, you will need to have either a network printer, or a printer nearby your cluster desks. The best option for a large office is a copier machine, and a network printer which is more suitable than individual printers.
