The law also allows the DOJ to seek criminal penalties, including imprisonment, for those who conspire to use another computer without authorization to send commercial e-mails, who deceive or mislead recipients or Internet access services about the origin of the message, who register multiple e-mail accounts or domain names that falsify the identity of the actual registrant, and who falsely represent themselves as owners of multiple Internet protocol addresses that are used to send e-mails.
