The Change In Music Media Over The Years

Music is a major element of almost everybodys lives

. Everybody has a favorite band or musician, and they are more than glad to share with other people why it is. It has been like this for a long time, yet the way people share the music and listen to the music is completely different than it has been in the past. Records and cassette tapes and 8 tracks and CDs have all been popular means to share and listen to music.

Today quite a few individuals have switched over to a higher tech way of getting music. Most people will download their music as opposed to buying hard copies on disc. There are a number of advantages to both kinds of purchasing your music; it all really comes down to what you prefer. When you download your music, you do not need to worry about storing physical copies of the music.

This frees up storage space of your shelf and in your entertainment area. What it does do though is occupy valuable storage space on your computer, but really with the size of the hard drives nowadays, it really is minimal unless you are talking about thousands and thousands of songs. But even if you do download all of your music, you can always burn copies onto disc for storage.

However, most people dont even want that, they want to stay away from hard copies and keep everything digital. Keeping it digital is an excellent idea and it is extremely convenient. The only problem with having every song that you own in your front pocket is picking what you want to listen to at any given time. Having so many choices, it can be difficult to narrow down what you're in the mood to listen to. At least when you had a limited amount of CDs or tapes in your car, you would have to pick form that selection. That is why the shuffle button on the MP3 player is so cool.

You get a random selection of music at any time. So if you are not really in the mood for that specific style of music, you can just skip forward or wait a couple of minutes and it'll change. The only problem with a skip button is that you can get into a habit of looking ahead and skipping all the songs to see what is next. This can be very bothersome for anybody that happens to be with you.
