The Circle Of Fifths Explained- Where Do You Fit It In Your Piano Playing.

Ok circle of fifths explained, it basically is just the most typical progression in all of music so I guess you should want to know what it means

. But understanding what it means is not the hard part, the hard part is how to apply it to all of you piano playing or really any kind of instrument you are playing its all the same. Music tends to follow the same pattern no matter what song it is it all is the same. And the circle of fifths explained will help you understand that pattern.

Ok if you look at the circle it goes from C moving to F, ok we are going to look backwards at it because I think its easier to understand that way so instead of moving in fifths we are going to count up fourths.. So it goes from C to F to Bb to Eb to Ab to Db to Gb to B to E to A to D to G back to C. Ok that is how the circle moves on the chart. But for a beginner at the piano its really confusing on what it really means when it comes to applying it to your actual piano playing. Well if you are playing in the C scale if you notice most of the time the next note you play will be moving in the pattern of fourths around the scale. For example starting on the C chord where you do you typically go in a normal song like a hymnal song or actually most songs.

You will be going from the C to the F chord. Then after the song calls for a change you usually go back to the C. Then after you are on the C you go down to the A then from there you move in fourths around the scale until you close the song off with C. So from A minor you go to the D minor from there you go to the G and then you close the song with the C. Like the chords moving around a song like amazing grace would go like this. C to F back to C down to Am to Dm to G back to C. Ok try that pattern for amazing grace and se if it don't work, whenever you hear that the song needs to change chords change them using that pattern and you will be moving in the circle of fifths and you will be playing more full sounding songs.
