The City Of Gardens: Enjoy The Flora In Victoria Bc
The scenic capital city of British Columbia, Canada is Victoria
, known as "the city of gardens" on account of its abundant flora and stunning beauty. Located on the southern coast of Vancouver Island, the city's temperate climate and plentiful sunshine make it possible for its gardens to thrive.
Locals bask in the beauty of the perpetual bloom and take great pride in the number of flowers that start blooming here in the winter, when the rest of country (and much of the province) is still buried under layers of ice and snow. By February, Victorians are seeing daffodils, crocuses, and most famously the lovely cherry blossom trees line the streets with pink. The city very literally comes alive with colour!
Fairholme Manor is a garden within a garden. The B&B's park-like property has its own private gardens within "the city of gardens." Fairholme provide guests with a magnificent floral view from their suites--picture an array of vibrantly coloured blossoms against the ocean and mountain skyline. Fairholme Manor's greenery includes vegetable and herb gardens which supply some of the organic ingredients for owner Sylvia Main's legendary breakfasts. In addition, Fairholme is situated right next door to Government House with its own professionally kept gardens, adding to the florid loveliness.
A vacation in the city of gardens is not complete until you have visited THE garden the city is known for, Butchart Gardens! Butchart Gardens is located in Brentwood Bay, just north of Victoria, and it is an expansive 50 acres of plants, flowers, and trees, with paths lacing the beautiful grounds. Open year-round, the Gardens provide a different visual splendour in each season. In addition to the amazing flora, the summer months also have nightly entertainment and firework displays once a week. In the winter, holiday lights and decorations bedeck the grounds, and an outdoor skating rink is erected.
Victoria's stunning floral aesthetic makes it a picturesque and memorable destination to visit, earning it the reputation of "the best bloomin' city in Canada"!
