Wooden toboggans are usually made of wood slats bound together and are parallel to each other. Its front is curved inwards to form a "J" shape and designed with a rope or cord that is usually attached to the side as a means for steering.

Wooden toboggans, however has no brake system. Its brake system consists of stopping only as wooden toboggans run out of a slope to slide on. With the coming winter season, wooden toboggans will once again be taken out of the closet and waxed in preparation for hours of fun in the snow. Children love the idea of playing in the snow. There is something magical about it that brings out the smiles and chases away the blues. Since wooden toboggans are designed to carry multiple passengers, you can spend precious bonding moments with your children. Holding each other while enjoying wooden toboggan rides together is a perfect and idyllic time for any family.

And if this is too mundane for you, you can always join the US National Toboggan Championship of which the only rule is that you use a traditional toboggan. How is that for a winter sport? Sounds like more fun than staying indoors, don't you think? It may not be as sophisticated as skiing competitions, like any other sport it can be just as satisfying. A wooden toboggan may not be as expensive as a pair of skis but acquiring a quality wooden toboggan is still a must. You can use it longer and it would require less maintenance that simply buying a cheaper but inferior wooden toboggan. Not only that, both children and adults can take great pleasure in riding quality wooden toboggans especially if it is going to be used for sports.

No matter the age or ability, no one is young enough or old enough not to enjoy a wooden toboggan ride. You may want to ride wooden toboggans for fun or serious sport but whatever the reason, take it as a chance to bond with the one sitting behind you, be it your child, your partner or simply just your buddy.
