Success leaves clues. People who have succeeded have told their stories and they have given clues as to how they did it. Follow these clues and they will lead to success. Seems simple enough. However, if it's so simple, how come so few catch the brass ring? For the simple reason that most people want to reinvent the wheel. It's natural to want to put our own imprint on everything that we do. Only the wise will dare to emulate. So, lesson number one on the path to success is, read up on people who have already succeeded, find out how they did it and emulate them.
Lesson number two is that success cannot be attained through hard work. Every Tom, Dick and Harry who ever succeeded never worked a day in their life; they played. That is, they were having the time of their lives doing what they did. Wild horses could not have dragged them away from whatever it is that they were doing.
Enjoying what we do is the only way that it is possible to find the enthusiasm and the energy necessary to really become a success. When we are playing, we know that we will win sometimes and sometimes we will lose. But that goes with the territory, it does not turn into a tragedy. We lose; we learn, come back wiser and win the next episode.
Next is to surround ourselves with people who are smarter than we are. In to today's world, no one can do it alone. There are simply too many areas of expertise that have to be mastered that a mastermind group is needed. We live in times where the prize is won by the smallest margin so a concerted effort is needed for anyone who wants to be first at the finish line.
Thankfully the communication technologies are so advanced that the world has become a small village and the brainpower needed to assist us can usually be found by a few clicks of the mouse. There is always someone somewhere who is ready and eager to participate and contribute. Some of these people might be retired people eager to get involved or budding geniuses who have not found their niche yet. But the main thing is that they exist and they can be found.
The next requirement to achieve success has to do with the ability to exploit the imagination. One thing is absolutely certain and that is the fact that at the beginning of any great achievement there will be a shortage of resources. Lack of resources can always be overcome with resourcefulness.
The ability to use resourcefulness to overcome a lack of resources is what separates the men from the boys and the winners from the also-ran. It's also where the mastermind group can be most useful. There is a solution for every problem; the trick is to find that solution. With faith, determination and self-confidence it can always be done. Success stories are filled with examples of that. People who had a project in mind, lacked some resources and with imagination and creativity found a way to acquire whatever was needed to bring the project to fruition. Others have done it. So can we.
Achieving success is relatively simple. First, a role model has to be found and emulated. Second, the work must become an exciting game. Something that would be willingly done even if there were no pay involved. Next, one has to be surrounded with smart and intelligent people. A mastermind group if you will. Then, it must be understood that a lack of resources can always be remedied through resourcefulness. That is all that is needed to achieve success, that is, so long as there is the final catalyst.
This final catalyst, the spark needed to turn the dream into reality or the invisible into the visible, is self-confidence. Faith in ourselves and in our abilities. With that final item, almost anything is possible. Without it any worthwhile project is doomed to failure even before it gets off the ground.
It's a big world out there. There are opportunities everywhere. We were born to conquer and win. It's our birthright. Now, all that we have to do it to go out there and claim it.
