I consequently believed at the start of the season that we would be able to improve on our finishing position from last season and finish in the top four this season so that we would be in the Champions League next season, but following our defeat to Arsenal at home yesterday thanks to two quality goals from Robin Van Persie, Im not sure sure that were going to be able to manage it any more.
I had booked myself into one of the luxury Liverpool city centre hotels because I believed that we would prove too strong for Arsene Wengers men at home and so I would be celebrating a victory, meaning that I wouldnt be able to make the drive back to Derby on the same day, but Van Persies winner in the second minute of injury time left Anfield as silent as a funeral and so I had nothing to celebrate. I consequently headed straight back to Derby after the game but found upon my arrival back home that my wife had taken the opportunity afforded her by my plan to stay overnight in Liverpool to visit her sister in London at the last minute. I had also forgotten my house keys and so was forced into searching for decent hotels in Derby to find one to stay the night in because I couldnt get into my own home. I was not happy.
And I dont think that were going to qualify for the Champions League by finishing fourth this season either, especially following Saturdays result.
