When striving to bring back your abundant hair, your first consideration will be the hair restoration costs. You can admit it or not but it is the truth simply because hair restoration is not exactly on top of our list of financial priorities. The costs for hair restoration will vary depending on the method used, on the type of hair loss and the extent of the hair loss. * Finasteride - This is used to treat male pattern baldness. Unlike minoxidil, you have to take it orally with a bottle of 90 1-mg pills costing $35 and up in most online sites.
* Corticosteroids - This is injected into your scalp and is a prescription medicine. The costs will vary depending on the strength and frequency of the injections.
* Anthralin - This is available as an ointment or a cream. Again, costs will vary depending on the adjunct therapy like UVB therapy as prescribed by the doctor.
Costs of Surgery
Now, if you have the money to spare for more expensive hair restoration costs, then ask your doctor about surgical methods. There are two types of surgery:
* Hair transplant can cost anywhere from $4,000 to $20,000 depending on the number of grafts your head will need. You should ask as many doctors as possible to determine which one offers the most reasonable services. Also, remember to add the costs of extra medications, laboratory tests and other adjunct fees.
* Scalp reduction surgery is expensive, too. Basically, your hair-bearing scalp is folded into the bald scalp, which is technically called a flap. Expect to pay starting at $4,000 on the operation.
Hair restoration costs are nothing to scoff at. You have to think twice about spending money on hair when you can just go around completely bald or go for innovative methods like using wigs.
