Realize that some marketing investments are simply long term costs of doing business and will not necessarily result in an easily tracked return they are simply necessary underpinning for your companys work. However if there are specific activities being pursued, you and the SEO company should have some idea of the planned impact and timing and those results should be measurable such as increase in conversions reduction in bounce rate and so on.
