These are all things that you may need to buy in order to actually make power with your wind device. Depending on where you end up placing it on your property, you may need these additional pieces of apparatus:

Tower - This could be what you mount the home wind turbine on top of. The best wind is always found higher up in areas not disturbed by the interference of trees, buildings, and other ground obstacles to a smooth and steady flow of air. A tower can double the cost of the project though, but it could be worth it to get that much more energy out of the wind. Power inverter - These aren't that expensive in the big scheme of things, but you need them if you are going to do anything other than charge batteries, because they turn the raw direct current (DC) power that you are making with a home wind turbine into alternating current (AC) power that can be consumed by an appliance around your house.

Batteries - Adding batteries to your project can add a lot of cost just like the tower can, but having a backup system with them can take your project to a whole new dimension. Having battery backup will allow you absorb the peaks and valleys of renewable power production. Since all renewable sources of power are intermittent, feeding a battery pack which then supplies power to the device or appliance you are trying to get power to usually takes the worry out of the equation. (Worry that the wind won't blow specifically when you happen to need the power.)
