The Custom Poster Quality Test by:Lynne Saarte

Maintaining the quality of your custom posters must be one of your prime goals in poster printing

. It is always a good idea to strive to produce good and effective posters every time you print them, since your posters represent your reputation as a poster designer. Also, it projects the image of the company or project that it is made for. So it is essential to have a quality test in mind for custom posters. Below are a few examples of the items that you must place for a custom poster quality test.

Concept Test:

The concept test for a poster is basically an analysis of the thoughts, emotions and issues that a poster design has. This includes factoring in the composition of its images, the tone of the text and the overall color combinations that imbue the poster emotions. To judge a good quality poster, all of these elements must combine into a coherent whole which is easily understandable to its audience. By simply showing your poster design to a few trusted people, you can check a poster's concept by asking these people if they understand the poster's message clearly. If you get differing results on the whole point of the poster, then you may want to redesign it again.

Paper Test:

Posters also need to undergo a paper test. Most poster promotions require people to place their posters in different locations. This might be indoor or outdoor locations that present certain challenges to your poster's material. Your poster might encounter differing levels of heat, cold, moisture, dryness and other physical tortures which can eventually affect its life. Test your poster's paper by exposing it to slightly increased levels of the types of stresses that it may encounter. If the material fails quickly, then you may want to invest in higher quality paper with increased resistances to moisture, temperature and physical stress.

Impact Test:

A good design is not the same as a design with an impact. For posters, you should also test the design's impact on people. Not only must a poster concept be understood, people must be affected by it by invoking an intense kind of emotion in them. You can test this in your posters by having several people review your poster design, and then recording their reactions and feelings about it. If people easily relate to the message which should show as intense interest and engagement then you would have made an impact with the poster. If there is only a small reaction however, then you might want to rethink your design to save it from mediocrity.

Location compatibility test:

Lastly, you must also consider testing your poster for the location that you are eyeing for them. Posters must look like they belong in the location that they are posted in. This means that you should not post posters in locations where their message is unimportant or inappropriate. For example, you may not want to post posters of a controversial nature in church or community billboards. So it is best to check with an authority figure on the location if it is good to place your poster on their particular location first. This should save you the trouble of dealing with location issues in the future.

So, try to mark these items well in your memory. Include them if you can on your own poster quality checklist. This will really help you minimize your problems with poster quality, and it will also assure you of a better and more successful poster printing campaign.
