As a nurse, I have seen many technological changes in the medical field over the past 10 to 15 years, but my honest assessment is that even with all our advances, the medical field is still way behind the dental field when it comes to eliminating procedures that are painful to patients. One of the most innovative and influential elements of dental practice becoming pain free is the advent of the Cosmetic Dentist.

Cosmetic dentistry has not only placed the emphasis on the reduction or elimination of painful procedures, it has also focused on cutting down the number of visits per procedure. For example, in the old days, receiving dental crowns could take as many as four or five visits to complete the procedure; now you can receive custom crowns or porcelain veneers in two visits. Orthodontic braces took numerous scheduled visits over a two year period minimum, but now, your cosmetic dentist will straighten your smile in as little as six months. Fewer visits to the dentist means saving time and money.
