Boilers play a very important roll in everyday life throughout the world
. They heat water and other liquids in many different environments including the home, businesses, manufacturing, and many other locations. They were once was used to power steam locomotives, which moved products across the country. There is a difference between combi boiler and others.
The materials used in the part of the boiler, that comes in contact with the liquid and produces live steam is usually made copper or brass. The outside of the unit may be made of steel or wrought iron. Units designed for heating water in domestic water boilers in the UK are made of cast iron.
Boilers, such as the combi, are run at a low pressure so as to not produce boiling water. The name 'combi boiler' is short for combination boiler. They are unique in that they are 'instant hot water on demand' There is no need for a huge tank to heat water. They are also unique in that they provide heat to the entire home, through water radiators.
This hot water is recycled back to the boiler, to be reheated and begin the journey again. This provides an excellent saving on energy costs as there is no separate water tank that must be kept working, in addition to a separate unit for heating the house. In addition, the combi boiler can fit in a very small area, even a cupboard, rather than take up a lot of space. It has been found that they work better in a small family home with one bathroom.
The system boiler has the heating and hot water system built in, making it very economical. Hot water pumps from the system boiler, through piping, to radiators and a hot water cylinder. A system boiler also has all components as part of its construction. This includes the pump, expansion vessel, safety valve, automatic air vent and the programmer. Fewer materials are required for installation, which reduces the cost. Ordinarily, the feed/expansion tank is installed in the loft, exposing it to leaks and freezing damage to tanks and pipes. That danger is eliminated with this boiler.
Condensing boilers are especially designed to minimize heat loss and are 'A' Rated, which mean efficient and economical. The waste gases are recycled which causes an increase in efficiency through the heat exchanges. The water vapor, coming from the burning of hydrogen within the fuel, and which is usually lost, goes through a second heat exchanger, producing more heat. A condensing boiler has a wide classification and can be a open vent boiler, system boiler, or even a combi boiler. (It is possible to have both condensing and non-condensing combi boilers.) The condensing boiler does not turn off and on, wasting fuel, they just slow down and turn over for the right temperature, which saves additional energy costs.
