The Division
Christianity has been practiced for centuries upon centuries. It has become the most popular religion in America and throughout the world. It began with its roots in Catholicism and has branched out after Martin Luther and the ninety-five theses. This division from Catholicism has developed a second division of Chrstianity known as Protestantism. There are several differences between the two divisions, but one of the main differences is Catholicism tends to mourn the death of Jesus while Protestantism celebrates his resurrection.
Catholicism was the first form of Christianity and continues to be its own section while Protestantism is divided into several denominations. There are the Lutherans, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, Evangelicals, and several others. The reason there are so many denominations is due to the different interpretations of the Bible over the centuries. The overall message is still the same. All believe in Jesus as the lord and savior. They all believe in the word of God; it is the interpretation of that word where things begin to differ. The only way for anyone to understand this division is to study the history behind it. Each denomination came about because the parables and metaphors within the Bible are thought of as metaphors by some, but thought to be truth by others. There is no way to tell who is right and who is wrong in their beliefs because it is all based on the matter of faith.
Faith is something Catholics and Protestants both share, and it is a common ground all believers can reach. Without faith, Christianity wouldn't exist. It is the prime source of all believers. It is the reason they pray, attend church and believe. It is a powerful part of the Christian religion and it is the foundation of a person's spirit and soul. It is what drives them every day and what keeps them on the path to a more satisfying life and behavior.
