The Easiest Way To Clean Horizontal Blinds

We all have faced the problem called horizontal blinds

. They are functional, and serve their purpose right, yet they have caused many a headache to every housewife or home owner I know. For once, they tend to give up without much of a fight when the kids start playing with them. The result: broken mechanisms, and lowered functionality. However, I could live with that (not that I have much of a choice, though). What I can't stand is the simple thought of cleaning them.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a cleaning freak, but I can't stand seeing the dust, the spots and the grime gathered all over the blinds. Having tried any type of cleaning at Bermondsey, I could think of: spraying the blinds and wiping them, spraying the cloth and/ or towel and wiping the blinds, and still no visible effect. What gets me the most is that I have spent a small fortune on various cleaning products that promise immediate results, and guess what the spots are still there.

When there are no options left, people often resort to insane experiments. Since I have heard about the miracle of using vinegar as an all-purpose cleaner, I decided that it was hight time for my household to try going green. I don't know what you think about the whole idea, but in my experience, it didn't work. The only result was the inevitable vinegar stink that clung to the blinds for about a week.

Finally, when I was on the verge of giving up and resorting to hiring professional cleaners from Bermondsey, I had an idea: instead of trying to wipe the blinds, I took them down and soaked them in the bathtub. That's about right it turned out that all it took was some cheap liquid soap, some hot water (just enough to cover the whole thing) and some dunking. Repeat the soaking and dunking a couple of times, let the water drain from the blinds and hang them back in place while they are still damp. The last thing you will have to do is wipe any remaining drips, and you are all set.

This simple method has been keeping my vertical binds clean and shiny for the last year, and I sincerely hope that it will make your day, too.
