The Effect Of Carpets On One's Breathing

When I was in the fourth grade, my parents noticed that I had a difficult time breathing in certain parts of the year

. Their guess was that my difficulty to breathe was the result of seasonal allergies. However, after the doctor examined me thoroughly, he concluded that I, unfortunately, had asthma and needed medicinal assistance in order to breathe properly.

When I turned nine years old, I was being heavily medicated with constant inhaler usage as well as daily steroid usage, which helped keep my breathing passageways open. However, they did not seem to completely do the trick.

Because of this, the doctor inquired about my room at home. He asked if my room was carpeted or if it was a wooden floor, to which we responded that it was carpeted. Immediately, without hesitation, the doctor told us that either the carpet must be removed from the room, or I must sleep in a non-carpeted room.

Later, I discovered exactly the reason for this. Carpets attract large amounts of dust and store the dust deep in their pockets. In fact, often one who removes a carpet will find a thick layer of dust underneath the carpet.

People who sleep in carpeted rooms often have more vulnerability to having blocked breathing passageways due to the many dust molecules that pocket themselves inside of the carpet.

As such, we totally uprooted the carpet from my room, and we were left with a totally flat wooden floor. As a result, the quality of my breathing had highly risen.

Although we did so, the doctor made note of the fact that this still was not enough, and in order to ensure that blankets of dust would not accumulate in the room, we needed to sand down the floor, wax it, and polish it too.

The carpeting and flooring tools that were used in the process are what helped make a major difference in my asthma. By using the proper tools for sanding down the floor and uprooting the carpet, we made sure that the job we did was complete and thorough, which made sure that my health was in better condition. Most likely, were we to power-steam the carpet when it was there every week, the dust might not have accumulated to such an extent, and my health would have been further protected.

As such, there is nothing more important than clearing the house of dust by making use of the best tools that are available for purchase.
