The Effect of Low Force Chiropractic Adjustments on (Emf)
This study is going to review important points of the main topic which is the effect of low chiropractic adjustments on body surface electromagnetic field (EMF). It's aimed at reporting the already tackled information but not new aspects. It offers an overview of significant literature on a topic. This review of the article should give a clear understanding of why the study was done, how it was done, and the results and conclusions that were drawn.
Purpose of the study
The purpose of a research is to identify the ways and techniques used by people in field studies to bring an understanding of a complex issue or an object. This particular study enables us to investigate the body surface electromagnetic field (EMF) changes using a sensitive magnetometer before and after a specific Toftness chiropractic adjustment, in asymptomatic human subjects.
Methods and scope of the study
This is a systematic analysis and evaluation on ways of doing things in order to make improvements. A total of 20 subjects were assigned into control group with 24 experimental groups in a pre and post test design. A five digit display and resolution nanotesla was used with the Triaxial Fluxgate magnetomer, for EMF detection which was monitored and recorded. The subject's body surfaces which are, thoracic, cervical, sacral and lumbar areas, was determined in the prone position before and after the chiropractic adjustment. A low chiropractic adjustment was then applied to the EMF body surface as determined by the practitioner.
Subjects
In this article, 38 students and 6 faculty members participated in the study. From the total, 20 were in the control group and 24 in the experimental group. Of the 44 participants 14 were female and 30 male, ranging in age from 23 to 58 years old. From the 20 subjects there were 6 females and 14 male, while in the experimental group, there were 8 females and 16 males. Individuals who did not agree with the drafted informed consent form approved by the Logan IRB were excluded from the study.
Protocol or procedures
A non motorized adjusting table was used for EMF measurements and adjustments with the subject resting in a prone position.
Test the motorized adjusting table and the non- motorized table for EMF strength before and after the chiropractic adjustments within 20 minutes duration.
Deliver a low force toftness chiropractic adjustment with a metered hand held pressure applicator at the cervical, thoracic lumbar and sacral contact site
The adjustment contact line of drive, amount of force that is being applied are determined by constant monitoring of the site using the Sensometer. Subjects in the control group follow the same procedure.
Instrumentation
The instruments that were used include, applicator
Anon-motorized adjusting, table
Motorized table
The Sensometer
Triaxial fluxgate magnetometer
Plain wood adjusting table
The variables used include the dependent and independent variables. The electric charge (independent variable) is the manipulative factor that will determine the level of electromagnetic fields (dependent variables). Descriptive type of statistics was used, this is demonstrated through the use of graphs and numerals.
Findings
The EMF on the adjusting table reduced during the first observable 15 minutes. The subject's body surface decreased in the two regions which are the cervical, sacral with no significant change in the thoracic the lumbar. No change of EMF was observed in the control group.
Conclusion and recommendation
.Human objects depicted a reduction in EMF in both the sacral and cervical regions after the chiropractic adjustment.
Further studies should be done to get insight into unresolved issues like the mechanism of decreasing of EMF
