The End Of An Era

The End Of An Era

The End Of An Era

The British motor show, an institution in Britain for the country and for car lovers, has been ditched after its one hundred and seventh year. Organisers sadly decided that the event, which was once one of the most important events in the motoring calendar, was no longer viable. Its a huge blow for both the car industry and for motoring fans across the globe, as at the peak of its success the show boasted attendances in excess of nine hundred thousand visitors.

Shows in other European countries such as France and Germany now pull more fans, and the organisers believe it is a waste of time.

Paul Everitt of the society of motor manufacturers said that "it was not a decision taken lightly but in recent years the show has played a less important role in influencing new car buyers". The SMMT feel that although they are still committed to showcasing products from the motor sector, the economic downturn has meant that they cannot keep the show running.

Not only bas the show been cancelled but the already organised dates for 201 were also cancelled. Car sales

and car makers have been plunged into stress as consumers struggle to get loans to buy new cars, preferring instead to buy second hand.

By 2008, some car makers were choosing to stay away from the shows as it was an unnecessary cost they couldn't afford, and so it has closed its doors.

If you own a car in the UK, make sure you have Car Insurance.
