I happen to record streaming video reasonably regularly these days and it has got to the point that my computer has transformed into some sort of 'centralized data center'. So if this fails, you have to proceed to the second approach which is called 'screen capture'. Once again, utilizing special software, you basically record a region of your monitor (or even the full monitor itself) and when the TV program finishes, you hit the STOP button and the video is saved to a file on your hard disk. The great advantage of this technique is that it works 100% of the time but the quality is not quite as good as the first method and, somewhat annoyingly, you can't use your computer whilst it's recording. So yes, it's annoying but at least you get to record the video.
