The corpora cavernosa in the male organ is quite basically two chambers that span the entire length of your penis and contains erectile tissue. The corpora cavernosa is enveloped by membrane medically termed as tunica albuginea.

Tunica albuginea is a whole mass of tissue that also contains veins, arteries, smooth muscles and fibrous tissues. The reason why erections can be sustained is thanks to the tunica albuginea that works to trap the blood in the aroused penis.

Likewise once the muscle in the penis contract, blood flow intake is halted and the erection process is reversed. Erectile dysfunction can be explained as the inability of obtaining a firm enough erection for sexual intercourse. This dysfunction should not be confused with impotence, which points to other sexual organ-related problems such as lack of sexual libido and the inability to reproduce.

Statistically, an average of seven point seven men out of every one thousand men in the United States suffers from erectile dysfunction, also known as ED. However, this is a very loose finding as by the year 1999, the rate of ED found in a thousand men tripled from seven point seven to twenty two point three, prompting the idea that ED is much more common than the average man would like you to know.
