The Extraordinary Origination Of The Impressive Skagen Women's Watch
The beginning of Skagen women's watch is a tale of Danish immigrants who came to
New York to market another brand of watches in North America that were nice to have. Some timepieces were sent to the United States in order for the Danish company to begin a large expansion worldwide.
The designs were liked, but just because of the brand and logo and this was not enough to sell in North America. Americans were looking for more than name recognition; they were looking for something distinctive and reliable as well as being priced within reason.
Because of this, the immigrants ordered four designs and over eight-hundred time pieces from the Danish company and branded them as Skagen. The order shortly sold out as did another order. This is when the new company took off.
The four designs made the immigrants in New York desire to initiate additional designs and those grew to over thirty different models for the next year. Their perception of what individuals wanted made their designs different from the rest of the watch designs on the market and this turned into a triumph.
The Scandinavian concept and quality of the men's wrist watches were also marketed as sensibly priced time pieces for the everyday person. The accidental meeting of one of the designers with a person from a large American catalog turned the tide.
Selling the watches from their New York apartment house, the couple earned over $800,000 and sold every bit of stock they had on hand. This first success was one of the women's watch designs the immigrants had developed.
After this early success, the designers teamed up with Bloomingdale's who took the Skagen brand just on a trial basis. Every bit of stock the store had sold in one day. This began the revolution and it has not stopped since. The company was named the as one of the bright rising stars in the watch market in 1998. This would allow the company to launch into other markets, including their homeland.
An office was set up in Denmark and eighty stores grew from there. Then they turned their interest to the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands. The company now has over 250 designs being sold throughout the world in more than 5,000 stores. The original investment of the immigrants has blossomed into a multi-million dollar company that continues to grow and be creative in their designs.
The company also has moved from that small New York apartment house to find themselves developing new watch designs in Denmark and around the world. Those two immigrants have grown to over 170 employees, where everyone is involved in the decision making. The roots and passions of the original designers have kept everyone wanting more.
