The Faith of a Christian

Christianity is a religion that has been around for centuries

. It is the predominant religion in the United States and in many countries throughout the world. It began with its roots in Catholicism and has branched out after Martin Luther and his 95 theses. This division from the Catholic church developed a second sect known as Protestantism. Catholicism tends to mourn the death of Jesus while Protestantism celebrates his resurrection. The differences go much deeper than this, but this tends to be the main division.

Catholicism stands alone as its own section of Christianity. Protestantism is divided into several sections known as denominations. There are the Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, Evangelicals, and many more. These denominations came to be over the centuries as interpretations of the Bible began to differ. The overall message is still the same. All believe in Jesus as the lord and savior. They all believe in the word of Jesus; it is the interpretation of that word that makes things fuzzy. The only way for anyone to understand this division is to study the history behind it. The only way to understand what they believe is to read the Bible and interpret it themselves. There is no way to tell who is right and who is wrong in their beliefs because it is all based on the matter of faith.

Faith is something Catholics and Protestants both share and it is a common ground all believers can reach. Without faith, Christianity wouldn't exist. It is the prime source of all believers. It is the reason they pray, attend church and believe. It is a powerful part of the Christian religion and it is the foundation of a person's spirit and soul. It is what drives them every day and what keeps them on the path to a more satisfying life and behavior.
