In the current day and age France is a popular tourist destination with British people due to its close proximity to the United Kingdom

Although many of us have crossed the channel and have explored France's cities such as Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Nice and so on, very few people have taken time to visit the capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, Montpellier. Montpellier

Although not terribly large, the city of Montpellier in the Languedoc-Roussillon region is an attractive city that is very welcoming. With a strong student population, as you would expect the city is vibrant, however, for those that are unfamiliar with Montpellier you can expect plenty of history.

Founded between the 10th and 12th Centuries by Jews, Muslims and Christians, the city of Montpellier in the Languedoc-Roussillon region highly values tolerance and fraternity. The city has therefore developed a special Mediterranean vibe, described by many as "Art de Vivre". If you appreciate architecture, Montpellier is certainly the city to visit as you will find architecture from all periods of France's history throughout the city. Some of the top attractions in the city include an 18th Century water tower, an aqueduct, and mazes of narrow streets lined with tall, narrow houses.
