The Fats Within Our Body

When you eat, there are some oils that enter in your body

. These molecules are called fatty acids.

Fats are important for keeping you warm when it's cold outside, for storing energy, to form hormones and lubricate the surface of your body.

Some of these fats create a layer around some organs, which help protect them.

But know you might think, so fat is good then? Unfortunately no, and excess of fat might bring you serious problems.

Saturated fats are found mostly in animal products like red meat, eggs and dairy. Coconut oil and other oils that originate from the tropical areas contain saturated fats.

That type of fat is solid at room temperature and excess of it might lead to cholesterol problems, cancer or heart disease.

Now the thing is, if you dont want to have those problems, then you should not eat more that 2 meals with red meat a week. Some of the more healthy foods are nuts, seeds, vegetables or fish. If possible, try to eat some of those every week.

Trans fats are created by forcing hydrogen into vegetable oils to make them more solid. If you want, take stick margarine for an example.

This is a process that modifies the structure of fatty acids that are contained in vegetable oils and make them look more like saturated fats.

Excess of saturated fats is bad, but excess of trans-fats is even worst. Try to avoid them.

Trans-fats are found on processed snack food, pastry products and oils used for frying.

Some fats are found in plants. These are called monounsaturated fats and are very healthy.

If possible, try to use these fats every couple of days. They can keep the blood vessels healthy and reduce cholesterol.

Polyunsaturated fats are found in plants and fish. The best known are omega 3 and omega 6 fatty-acids. These are found in fish oil and different seed oils.

Although these are healthy fats, you should not consume many of them.
