The Female Only ConMost of us ladies are aware that they are car insurance companies that will provide us with cheaper car insurance quotes, on the basis that we are women, and therefore statistically safer drivers. So every year, when our car insurance policy is ready for renewal, we go back to these trusted sites, put a few details in and renew our policies, safe in the knowledge that we are paying less than our male counterparts. Or are we?
Research from one of Britain's newspapers has found that the insurance companies we trust in are ripping us off, knowing we al presume this to be the case. Some women friendly' sites are charging hundreds of pound over the odds for our policies, safe in the knowledge we won't shop around, as its easier.
Bespoke providers such as Diamond, Sheila's Wheels and Ladybird have, on reported occasions, provided us women with quotes up to 200 more than those we would have got elsewhere.
Home office figures have shown that in the last five years, women are only accountable for six percent of the accidents reported on our roads, and only seventeen percent of speeding convictions, despite the fairly equal divide in women and men on the road, split forty five and fifty five percent respectively.
So surely insurance companies who only insure us are the way forward? If we are having less accidents, they will be paying out less, and therefore we will be charged less? Right? Wrong. the difference between what we pay and what our fellas pay is shrinking, leaving us with bigger bills at the end of the year.
