The Final Harry Potter Movie
Following the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, fans of the franchise are beginning to realise with some chagrin that the next outing for their favourite boy wizard is likely to be the last - the next film will chronicle the events in the final book in the series, meaning no more Harry Potter.
Since Harry Potter movies have been coming out in the cinemas with some regularity since 2001, millions of people around the world are more than used to seeing the new adventures of Harry and his wizarding friends every one or two years. However, following the release of upcoming movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, that'll be it: the end of the road.
That doesn't mean that film makers aren't striving to get as much out of the series finale as possible. The film has already been announced in two parts, being split up into a first and second half that will be released into cinemas six months apart - which is both a cruelty and a gift that will leave die hard fans both agonising over a six month wait and rejoicing that there's still more to come. The final film, which promises a rollercoaster adventure where Harry finally faces arch nemesis Voldemort for the last time and battles to seal the fate of the wizarding and human worlds forever, will be released in December 2010 and July 2011, meaning fans of the franchise have at least another while of enjoying the anticipation of a new Harry Potter movie.
What will happen after the final film? Will Harry Potter fanatics suddenly discover a void in their life where the films used to be or will they all switch to Twilight fandom? Or perhaps Harry's creator, JK Rowling will put pen to paper and revive the series to catch up with Harry in his later years, thus securing at least a strong likelihood of more films in the series. Whatever happens, you can be sure that any Harry Potter fans you know are certain to have wizard-themed movie parties before the release of the final movie, setting aside a full day in which to watch all of the movies in a row, from first to last, before heading to watch Harry's final battle on the big screen. And if you're lucky enough to receive the movie HD channels, you can join them for a final cram before finding out Harry's fate.
