The First Afro-american Baseball Player In Mlb--- Jackie Robinson

April 5th is one of the most important days in MLB

, because in 1947, Jackie Robinson, the first Afro-American baseball player, wore the No.42 Jersey and had his first game for Brooklyn Dodgers. Many players in the teams play in this day will wear the No.42 Jerseys in order to commemorate Jackie Robinson. So its a funny scene that the players of both teams will wear the same number in a game.

Though United Sates have abolished the apartheid, in early 20th century, the racial discrimination is still vigorous. In that time, when the white controlled all the political society, it is impossible for an Afro-American to go to MLB. So, Jackie Robinson, the first Afro-American who went to play in MLB really shocked the whole MLB and American society. Then, MLB made the day of April 5th The Day of Jackie Robinson in order to commemorate this significant event. In 1997, MLB made another decision that the No.42 Jersey will be left for Jackie Robinson forever.

Jackie Robinson was born in Jan 31st, 1919 and died in Oct 24th, 1972. Before his first play in April 5th, 1947, the Afro-American players can play baseball games only in their Negro Leagues. Though US had already abolished the apartheid before that, the prejudice between races is still strongly affects the society. So Robinsons becoming the first Afro-American player in MLB is a significant event in the history of Civil Liberties Movements.

Another Afro-American player Don Newcomb had been Robinsons teammate for 7 years in Brooklyn Dodgers. Newcomb said that Jackies success was due to his education background and his social experience. Jackie Robinson was a student of UCLA and he is a good athlete good at playing baseball, football and basketball. Beside the above, he is enthusiastic about serving for public and fighting for citizens right. He had once been a soldier. These experiences helped him a lot when he was in the beginning of professional players life.

Jackie Robinsons story can help you if you are in a dilemma. Robinsons father abandoned his family when Robinson was only a child. It is his mother who brought up Robinson and his sisters and brothers. He got the scholarship and went to UCLA to have his campus life and became the only person who is a baseball, a basketball and a football player at the same time.

In USA, Robinson is not only a baseball player, but also a hero fight for Afro-Americans rights.
