The first biosphere facility in the Philippines is being constructed in the City of San Fernando Pampanga. Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation and TGEG have a contract with the said city to construct the biosphere facility. As stated on the 25 year joint venture agreement, SBSC will receive 80% of the revenue while the city government will get the remaining 20%.
With a population of 2645395 people in 477819 households according to the NSO census of 2008, City of San Fernando Pampanga is just one of the numerous cities in the Philippines to have critical issues with waste management. And according to the census report an average household electric bill per year right now is $900 USD. But once the biosphere facility is finished the city will save a lot on their electricity bills. The biosphere gasification facility will significantly help the city in eliminating their problems with wastes and energy since the technology converts solid wastes into clean green energy.
City Mayor Oscar "Oca" Rodriguez of San Fernando told Sunstar Pampanga during an interview that they are probably the most happy with this development and this may be the final solution to the global problem on wastes. He further said that this is the very reason why they had embraced the technology and are going for the biosphere project.
The city is positioned at the crossroads of Central Luzon. It is located at 67 kilometers north of Manila, 50 kilometers east of Subic Bay Zambales, and 16 kilometers south of Clark Field Angeles City. With this great geographical location of the city, San Fernando could be the best financial, industrial and political centre of the Philippines.
