So far, photography has already been in the digital age, more and more different digital cameras appear in the market. It is impossible to fathom a time when photographs of people were nonexistent. But, a recent discovery of a very early photograph marks the new record in photography history.

This photo was taken in 1848 in Cincinnati, appeared to be two men stand near the river's edge. Once it was post on the internet, thousands of Websters commented on the page. It was rumored that this photo was take by alien. Another version said the image on the photo is ghost. Somehow, none of them had exact proof. As reported by NPR's Robert Krulwich last month, the photo was taken by Charles Fontayne and William Porter on Sunday, September 24th, 1848. And they were standing on the other side of the Ohio River. The photo is what's known as a daguerreotype which is an image developed via an early photographic process developed in France. After Krulwich zoomed in the photo, we can notice that the image on the photo is two human figures. You can see them in a close-up image below:

A reader of Krulwich's blog took the photo and lightened it up a bit and messed with the contrast a little and posted a clearer version of it on his own blog. According to this Webster, He thinks that "the man on the left is standing behind the wooden beam wall (wharf? dock?) with his left leg up on the wall and his left hand resting on his knee, while the man on the right is standing on top of that wall."

Maybe you will think this is the earliest photographic image of human. But, it is not. According to historical records, the first photographic image of human is given by Louis Daguerre taken in 1838 in Paris. On this photo, there was an image of a man who appears to be getting his shoes or boots shined at a street corner. You can see the figure -- together with that of the shoe shiner -- in the bottom left of the image here.

Daguerre was the inventor of the daguerreotype process. This process involved exposing a chemically treated metal plate for several minutes. But, if someone or something was moving during photographing, it wouldn't be captured in a daguerreotype photo. However, since the two people stood steady at the street corner, they were captured and showed up in the picture. The anonymous Parisians thus get credit for being the first persons ever to have their picture taken.

Now, we are no longer worry the camera can't capture our image when we are photographing, no matter we are moving or standing still. The digital camera has various models for different photographing condition.
