If you want to get the very best results, make a trip out to the local rental shop and rent a laser level for the day

. You will be assured of the most accurate level line possible.

You can set up the laser level in a matter of a few minutes, and once you have determined the high point of your kitchen floor, you can shoot the laser line at that height. To establish a reference point, mark the laser line at all of the inside and outside corners of the walls.

After you have done this step, you can take a chalk line and connect the dots. To get the best results, make sure that you do the following. You will need to make sure that you pull the line as tight as possible here. By doing this, you will be sure that the line will not have sagged in the middle of the wall. So, once you have used the chalk box to snap the lines, go back with the laser and double check your lines.

A four foot level will work just as well here if you do not have access to a laser level. If you do use the four foot level, you will need to be very accurate with it.

After you have found the high point of the floor, you can use the level to start drawing the lines. If at all possible, have someone else help you with holding the other end of the level while you level it up and draw the level lines along the walls.

After you have finished drawing the lines around the kitchen, flip the level end for end and reverse what you have just done. If your four foot level is not accurate, this is where you will be able to tell. If the lines are matching up, then you can be assured that the level is accurate. If the lines do not match up, your level is not accurate and you will need to obtain one that is.

This is the reason why I suggest that if at all possible you rent a laser level, or borrow one from a neighbor. You will save yourself a lot of time in the beginning and you can rest assured that the lines are accurate. Just remember that this step is like the foundation of a house. If it is not right here, the entire process will be compromised.
