, Paul Zane Pilzer, has predicted that the health and wellness industry will be the next dominant industry in the market. Professor Pilzer has stated in 2002 in his book"The Wellness Revolution", that the said industry will be a trillion-dollar industry because of the growing global demand.

Hence, it is not surprising why many spas and wellness centers are opening in many localities. These businesses are also offering various types of wellness products such as food nutrition supplements and weight loss products.

It is apparent that the future of the industry is bright considering the great profitable potentials it offers. People now have the growing awareness and concern about health problems. People are increasingly becoming highly committed about their own health, the health of their love ones and the general health of the public. It is now a serious public issue that many government policies are now directed in addressing it.

The phenomenal business growth related to health and wellness is just a natural reaction to the increasing demand of the market. Aside from better public awareness and modern medical discoveries, the main factor for the emergence of this industry as a dominant business sector is the people's state of health. For instance, obesity is running rampant in industrialized countries.

The services and products offered by salon, spas and wellness centers are not anymore limited to cosmetic and relaxation needs. Clients of these businesses are not only seeking superficial treatment but also demanding health benefits from the treatments. Many spas now offer preventive and therapeutic treatments that target specific ailments and organ systems.

From aroma therapy to full body massage, from yoga sessions to food supplements, the competition among wellness centers and other similar business establishments is ever increasing.

However, the size of the market demand is also increasing that the room for expansion is not even half-way filled. The supply is hardly keeping up with the demand. Of course, various niches and specializations are also available when it comes to health and wellness.

Aside from catering to superficial aesthetic needs such as hairdressing and makeup, salon and spa workers must now also cater to health-related concerns of clients. They must also know the potential health hazards of the chemicals being used in the beauty treatments such as hair dyes, skin whitening lotions, and nail polish.

The beauty business sector is now gradually being absorbed by the health and wellness industry as people start to realize that the two aspects should be inseparable. One cannot be considered as truly beautiful without being healthy.
