Contrary to what most people believe, a visit to the Grand Canyon is about more than just taking in the views
. There are plenty of activities you can enjoy that will make your trip memorable.
For a genuine experience, when you travel through Nevada desert towards Grand Canyon, do not miss checking in with the cowboy camp established in Glen Canyon at least for a night. The recreation area from the camp's neighborhood is really amazing. Water activities such as jet-skiing or kayaking are readily available since the camp is located next to Lake Powell. Here you can also fish and if that is not to your liking, you can engage in some golfing on the full 18 hole course. Finish the night with a barbeque and prepare for the trip ahead of you.
If you really want to feel like you have stepped into an old cowboy movie, hike the trails around the Colorado Plateau where the scenery is breathtaking. For a bit more of the genuine experience, hire the services of an Indian Navajo representative who will know where to take you to make the best out of your exploration. Cameron Trading Post is also a must see since it is the location for local tribes when trading in their goods.
A very important Native American Indian collection of artwork can also be found in the neighborhood. The exhibits will take you back in time and shed a bit of light over the Old West as it used to be. You can also buy some memorabilia while you are there to remind you of your trip.
Getting to Grand Canyon from Las Vegas must be done via the famous Route 66. The route will take you to the national park, and you can let the adventure continue from there.
