Today, the artistic design and charm of yesterday's antiques furniture, not only can liven up a home with its richness, quality and sturdiness; it can also bring that certain something that has been missing from your own home, when considering what to do, for example, for a nice tea and serving set. The sets of today are modern looking and certainly nice looking. They don't, however, match that of silver antiques tea or serving sets, not by a long shot. In fact, if you take a look at the lovely, polished-silver of yesterday's tea and serving sets, you'll probably think that you need something like that right away, in your own home, situated in your own hutch, too for that matter. It's true; antiques furniture can really liven up your home.

Speaking of hutches, there are many lovely styles to choose from, and certainly French antique furniture has literally dozens to choose from. The French style of design came about in the 1700's, like many of the best-loved designs from that era. It is not unheard of to find complete dining room sets, chock full of not only tables, chairs, hutches and other items that look good in a dining room; especially today's dining room, since many people are going back to what looks elegant vs. what is less expensive. Certainly, French furniture is elegant, though even the antiques furniture that comes from France is not that expensive. Some pieces might reflect a bit more than others due to its quality and do not be surprised to see that the seller wants to sell it at the highest possible price if the piece is a cherished one from their family. Still, the furniture of this style, purchased for the homes of today, are well worth every penny spent.

Obviously, 18th century furniture is highly artistic by design, but also maintains the high quality of craftsmanship which permeated the furniture designers of that century. So much was going on in the world and both the demand for furniture as well, as the need to enjoy it and create it were definitely main stays during that time. Of course, many people who ordered furniture to be made by the cabinet makers of the time would go with the trends led by England and France. A very popular style of furniture back then was the Chippendale. Created by Thomas Chippendale, a cabinet maker who resided in London, many extremely fine arts styles of furniture were created, such as the Neoclassical, mid-Georgian and English Rococo. Furniture created by Chippendale, found its way to the homes of aristocrats across England. Today, several of his important pieces can be found in older estates across the UK, and are really quite admirable.
