The Greats Of Jazz In Riccione

With the end of summer Riccione turns its attention to other kinds of music

, different from the ones played in the discotheques, and gets ready to host high level music events, which are not only dedicated to clubbers, but also to those who have a passion for completely different music genres. For a few years, in particular, Riccione has been the ideal destination of all jazz lovers thanks to Bravo Jazz, a festival entirely dedicated to this genre. The 7th edition of the festival will include 6 dates from the 23rd of October to the 19th of February, and will host first-level musicians, both Italian and foreign. Bravo Jazz, which has become an unmissable event for all music lovers in few years, is one of the main happenings in the programme of the cultural events of Riccione, a city that succeeds in catching the visitors attention also thanks to these events, and not only in summer thanks to its beaches.

This year the festival is expected to be more diversified than ever, with famous musicians and emerging talents, who will make people discover the different aspects of this music genre, which was born in the United States in the first years of the 20th century and then spread all over the world, undergoing contaminations with other genres and interesting evolutions. The festival kicks off with the Bobby Watson Sextet, a band that does not count on virtuosity, but on the capacity to establish a contact with the audience, offering good music which can also make you think. Then its the turn of the Al Foster Quartet, captained by one of the best jazz drummers in the world, Al Foster, who has played for a long time with Miles Davis. The protagonists of the third date, which will be dedicated to gospel, a genre that is very widespread in the States, will be the Cedric Shannon and High Praise Gospel Singers. Cedric Shannon is becoming more and more famous in the States not only as a singer, but also as a composer and actor of musicals, showing to have a versatile talent. On the Bravo Jazz stage there will also be the Joey Calderazzo Trio, and this date is really unmissable (like the other ones), as Calderazzo is one of the most appreciated jazz pianists of the new generation: the young musicians, who has been playing piano since he was seven, has been part of the quintet of saxophonist Michael Bracker, and now plays with Jerry Bergonzi and Brandford Marsalis. Bravo Jazz will give space also to Italian jazz bands, like Quintorigo, who will be the protagonists of the second last date, and will play a tribute to American composer and contrabassist Charlie Mingus 30 years after his death. Quintorigo are one of the bands that best succeed in showing that the contamination between genres is possible, and their mix of jazz, classical music, pop and rock has no equal in Italy. The festival ends in the best way with the performance of the Alex Riel Quartet, captained by the excellent Danish drummer.
