It is growing industry and includes many different types of services including plumbing, electrical wiring, snow plowing, lawn care, roofing, maintaining air conditioning, locksmiths, window cleaning, carpet cleaning, and much more. The type of services offered and the way maintenance is managed usually depends on the type of property being serviced.

Commercial property or building maintenance may be provided by only one company, or they could be provided by several different companies that each specialize in a particular service, such as plumbing, electrical, or lawn care. When the maintaining of a particular facility involves several different companies, it may be managed by a management company. A management company is typically hired by organizations to take care of finding and employing individuals or companies to provide needed maintenance.

Different property maintenance companies may offer services for either residential or commercial properties, and many services are even more specialized, focusing on providing services for properties, such as school buildings or apartment buildings. In the case of residential buildings, most service is requested by the owner who needs a specific job done. Although most of these services are not regular or performed daily, some people do hire periodic residential maintenance services, which are mainly for lawn care, such as mowing or landscaping.

In the case of commercial property, such as apartment buildings, maintenance is usually the responsibility of a property manager who often lives onsite. A large portion of a manager's duties are cleaning and repairing problems. In most cases, repairs are only performed when a tenant requests them, and a manager will hire outside repairing or maintaining services.

On the other hand, office buildings typically require more regular property maintenance servicing, which are often performed daily. These services usually include cleaning facilities such as bathrooms, individual office spaces, and elevators. And most servicing includes snow plowing, painting, as well as other services for the surrounding property of office buildings.

Almost every commercial building or property requires regular maintenance, and many residential owners also hire services to maintain and upkeep their properties. Consequently, maintenance is a growing industry whose services are currently in high demand. Although the management and type of services offered may vary from one organization to the next, all services that help the upkeep of buildings and properties ensure that they stay clean and functional.
