The HTC Gratia provides great location based services
The HTC Gratia provides great location based services through the internal GPS antenna which is featured. Location based services allow you to find out where you are, connect you with friends easier and even help you to organise photos and videos.
The handset has the Google Maps application preloaded which provides the best in onscreen maps and mobile services, and is well known to many Web users too. The impressive maps featured when you type in the name of a location are extremely detailed, and you can use the zooming function to zoom in and out to see more or less detail and specific streets, street names and local points of interest marked on the map. The maps also come with a range of different views including the map view which is graphical based, satellite which shows you real satellite based imagery of the map; and hybrid which shows you the satellite view with graphical and text based information overlying it. Although useful, the easiest to use and follow is probably the graphical map which is first shown by default.
As well as showing of locations on the large display of the Gratia, you can also use this highly powerful app to provide you with directions from one place to another which is both quick and easy to do by simply tapping the directions icon and inputting two locations, which will automatically be searched for by the app. You will then be shown the graphical map with the most likely (or best recommended) route for you to take, and have instructions available for following that route. The app is now also enhanced further with step by step navigation (in beta) which allows it to follow the route as you follow it, meaning you can almost never take the wrong turn, and get to your destination quicker.
Other impressive location based features include Facebook Places which allows you to check-in and share your location with friends, so they can comment and even come to join you in say a bar or cafe. There is also automatic Geotagging of videos and photos captured by the handsets camera, which records the location of the media when captured. This is useful for finding the photos and videos, more-so than by date reference.
The HTC Gratia is a compact and stylish handset which combines the Android operating system and HTC Sense together along with impressive hardware. Additionally, its location based capabilities allow it to show you how to get anywhere with your mobile.
