The HTC Wildfire Provides An Impressive Spec List by:Chris Westley
Whenever mobile phone giant HTC releases a new handset
, it always creates a lot of hype. Their latest handset, the Wildfire is certainly no exception and for good reason. With all the bells and whistles you'd expect from modern Smartphone, its features include touch screen navigation of the user interface, five mega pixel digital camera and Wi-Fi Internet access. The renowned Android operating system is utilised in v2.1 (Eclair).
For a Smartphone of such of specifications, the HTC Wildfire remains relatively compact measuring just 106.8x 60.4x 12 mm and is also light weight at just 118 g. Its compact dimensions and light weight make it a pocket friendly phone which is also comfortable to hold and use on the move.
In order to connect to the Internet, the Wildfire relies on both 3G coverage and Wi-Fi connectivity. In areas covered by 3G, access to the Internet is provided courtesy of an HSDPA connection with speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes being available. A faster Internet connection can be achieved thanks to Wi-Fi Technology which detects the signals provided by wireless Internet routers and utilises these to provide a faster Internet connection. EDGE & GPRS are both utilised in class 10 versions in order to provide connectivity to cellular networks. In order to connect to other hardware devices, both Bluetooth and micro USB connections are provided.
As you may expect from the manufacturer, a long list of additional features and functions provides a high level of everyday versatility and appeals to range of users. For social networking fans, dedicated applications provide direct access to Facebook, Flickr and twitter, whilst a number of other popular websites are catered for with access to YouTube, Google and Picasa. The versatile internal media player supports many different formats of both music and video files whilst a number of pre-installed games and a stereo FM radio player are also provided to keep users entertained.
384 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM make up the internal memory of the HTC Wildfire. A micro SD slot is provided which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB. This provides ample storage for a large number of files and is capable of storing an entire digital music collection. The internal phonebook features the popular Photocall facility which allows a photo to be assigned to a particular contact in the phonebook.
The impressive five mega pixel digital camera provides a means of taking high quality still images thanks to a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels. To simplify the task of taking great photos, Autofocus and smile detection are provided along with an LED flash. The popular geo-tagging facility is also provided which automatically records the location at which a photo was taken thanks to GPS. An alternative method of image capture as video which the camera can shoot in a similarly high quality to that of still images.
The reputation of HTC alone seems to be enough for them to sell a large number of handsets these days, but it is easy to see why with examples such as the Wildfire which sums up the epitome of modern Smartphone.
