The HTC Wildfire Rivals Many A Smartphone by:Chris Westley

The mobile phone company HTC has burst out onto the scene with a few extraordinary smartphones

, most noticeably the Android-powered HTC Wildfire, nicknamed a 'smaller version of the HTC Desire'. With multiple homescreens showing on its 3.2-inch LCD screen, built-in Flash, top-rated virtual keyboard, 5-megapixel camera, and a slew of audio and video features, this smartphone is sure to please any mobile phone user.

----Features

While dubbed as a 'budget' device, the HTC Wildfire definitely packs a punch similar to its Legend and Desire counterparts. Firstly, the 3.2-inch display offers any mobile phone user prestige and clarity whilst watching videos or updating the Google maps application for directions, and is also the same size as the Legend's critically acclaimed screen. Secondly, the homescreen, in usual HTC fashion, is comprised of seven different customizable homepages, all serving a different purpose. The first screen, which is what the user is first presented with upon turning the phone on for the first time, is used for the sleek and never-before-seen flip-down style clock that is the signature of HTC's mobile phone operating systems. The second screen is used for widgets, apps, shortcuts, and folders, allowing a user to customize his or her phone with URL links, Facebook or Twitter apps, or several different widgets (i.e., weather, news, search, stocks, YouTube, and settings). The other five screens can be comprised of any combination of apps, widgets, icons, links, shortcuts, Google e-mail notification widgets, etcetera, etcetera. Along with this exciting selection of homescreens are the introduction of the 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, new and improved Wi-Fi utilizer, new Bluetooth technology, FM radio, and microSD slot which supports cards with up to 32gb of storage (a must have for any music lover). The HTC Wildfire is one of the few phones today to offer an optical joystick, allow mobile phone users the freedom and ease of scrolling through pages and app lists with extreme comfort and mobility. Another exciting feature of this new smartphone from HTC is Friend Stream, an application which takes your contact list and scours Facebook and Twitter for any recent updates, linking them with the appropriate contact (another must have for the avid social networker).

----In Retrospect

In retrospect, the HTC Wildfire is a feature-rich smartphone that packs a major punch for its generous price, and can be enjoyed by any mobile phone user. Its seven customizable screens, inventive Friend Stream app, vast array of widgets and shortcuts, and crisp and clear screen make it a contender with other, more robust smartphones that carry a heavier price tag. Whether you're looking to buy an affordable smartphone for a friend or special someone, or if you're just looking for a simple, easy-to-use -- but also capable of hours of enjoyment -- smartphone, then the HTC Wildfire is perfect for you.
