The first teaser trailer for "The Hangover Part II" has landed on the Web, and you can check it out right after the jump. It's just a short preview, but hey, it stars a monkey in a suit, and that's not a bad start. Alan, Stu and Phil are in it as well, but Doug's missing again. See for yourself.
The Todd Phillips-helmed sequel arrives in theaters May 26, 2011. In the flick, our buddies travel to Bangkok, where they get themselves into a whole lot of trouble. Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Jamie Chung and Juliette Lewis co-star in "Part II."
While this teaser trailer really doesn't show much, it will make a lot of people laugh and cheer once it debuts in theaters tomorrow. Needless to say, I'm already intrigued, and I sure can't wait until this one hits the big screen. Any other takers, or do you think this looks like crap?
The trailer for THE HANGOVER: PART II has made its way online to the delight of many Zach Galifianakis (and monkey) fans. I've embedded the trailer below but first let me share my thoughts.
I'm going to see THE HANGOVER: PART II. I'll see it opening weekend, probably opening day. I'm a fan of the original and of the cast. At the same time, this trailer doesn't do much for me. It feels like it's reaching for the same jokes, a common problem with comedy sequels (AIRPLANE 2 anyone?). Getting really drunk, forgetting an entire night, losing a member of the bachelor party. I know that the story can only be stretched so far and that some things will have to be similar to the original but this almost feels like a remake rather than a sequel.
That being said, I got a few laughs from this trailer. It should be fun to see the cast get chaotic and overwhelmed in Thailand. Plus, you know, that monkey. I'm just hoping it's got something original aside from the setting.

"The Hangover" sequel is headed to Thailand - reuniting Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and Zach Galifianakis as a group of friends who find themselves getting into even more outrageous trouble in Asia.The latest trailer for "The Hangover Part II" makes it abundantly clear to viewers that we should expect the film to follow the exact same formula that the first film followed. Fortunately, last time around, that formula worked terrifically, and with all the key ingredients back insame characters, same premise, same style of comedywe'd be surprised if this film doesn't end up being as entertaining as the first.
It can be difficult for a trailer to truly express how funny a movie will or will not besometimes the jokes need the proper set-up for them to be effectivebut honestly, there were definitely some moments in this trailer that could reasonably have you laughing at loud. Mainly, they are the smaller, character-based gags: Alan mispronouncing "Thailand," Stu freaking out over a tattoo, Mr. Chow being Mr. Chow, etc.
Some may be disappointed that this film will be an obvious rehash of the original, but it's not like "The Hangover" boasted an especially original plot in the first place. Just as all "Indiana Jones" films ultimately involve some arbitrary MacGuffin to make an excuse for the action scenes, "The Hangover" set up a pretty basic ideahungover buddies search for their missing friendand then let the talented performers do their thing. It looks like we can expect the same type of movie this time around, and we think that's a good thing.
