The history of mount cable ties can be traced back from the 1950s
. It was first invented by an electrical company and was known as the Ty-Rap. In 1958 it was initially used to bind wire harnesses in aircraft and in automobiles. The original version of the cable tie was actually a single metal tooth wrap and after a couple of years its design was changed into a nylon and plastic design. As the years went by several other companies have relied on cable ties in order to package various items and for shipping purposes. The single tooth metal design was changed into a multiple pawl design in order to lock various shapes and in order to improve the locking mechanism of the cable tie. In 2005 it was used as a replacement for the metal handcuffs. Police officers will only need to fasten the tie to the arms of the criminals and then easily lock it. Now it is virtually used in several homes, wiring jobs and in packaging.
The modern mount cable ties are better compared to the old single used versions. Today, most ties can be reused and are produced together with different compounds. Some cable ties have a release ratchet with enables the user to remove the tie. Of course, most ties are designed to have a release ratchet while in some cases there is a sewing needle that is attached to the rack. The main difference of the ratchet based design is that the ties are actually weaker than the metal cable ties. In order to bind the ties better most users will actually use binding knots. Tie knots can be permanently bundled through cable lacing, surgeons knot or through a constrictor knot. Most manufacturers will also add Velcro hook and loop connectors or conveyer belt hooks to the knots. Metal buckle clips can also be used to fasten the ties.
In terms of fire prevention and ultraviolet use, most cable ties are mixed with a copper based compound which is fire redundant. The same copper based compound is also responsible in protecting the cable ties from any ultraviolet rays. Hence the cable can be used to secure bags and other containers in any harsh terrain. Cable wires are also great insulators and that is why they are often used to hold together copper wires and pipes. Along with its insulator quality, cable ties are also water proof. This is because the nylon material used in such ties are actually plastic in material therefore they do not absorb water and they do not expand when exposed to the elements.
Aside from its fire redundant property, mount cable ties are also designed for holding large and heavy equipment. Most manufacturers use sturdy cable ties in order to hold various products together during shipment. There is also a special type of cable tie that can be used in food products. The blue cable tie does not have any corrosive material thereby it is ok to use it in tying food products together.
