The Htc One V Review

If you're looking for the low-priced smartphone of the One series

, then HTC One V can be really suitable for you. The device doesnt have high-end specs like HTC One X but it comes packed with the latest Android 4.0 (ICS) as one of its notable and beneficial features. Thus, lets evaluate the specs of HTC One V to reveal its advantages along with the drawbacks.

Design

At the first look, the design of HTC One V is somewhat similar with HTC Hero with the curved-chin style. Right in front side, you'll see the three physical touch-sensitive keys at the bottom of display. Youll find no front-facing camera above the screen. Towards the top side of the phone you can find LED notification light, power button and the 3.5 mm audio jack. At the right side there are volume rockers while at the left side you will see the microUSB port. At the rear side, theres an aluminum cover and at the very bottom theres a removable panel containing the microSD card and SIM card slots.

Dimension and Display

Measuring 120.3 x 59.7 x 9.2 mm, HTC One V is apparently smaller than its close brother HTC One S. With only 115 grams, the phone is also lighter than the iPhone 4S and also Samsung Galaxy Beam. The screen measures the smaller size as compared to its brothers namely about 3.7-inch. The display has the screen quality of 480x800 pixels, 16 million of color depth, and 252 ppi of pixel density which can make the pictures and text to appear sharper on the screen. The contrast and outdoor visibility are also excellent.

Hardware and Software

As previously mentioned, this device doesnt include high-end specs. It only boasts the single-core processor 1 GHz Snapdragon with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB internal storage. By having these specs, the phone may take a longer time to load some heavy apps or even the simplest task. To power up the overall operation, the standard battery of Li-ion 1500 mAh has been added. For the main system, the company has loaded the Ice Cream Sandwich that may perform well with the HTCs amazing user interface namely the Sense 4.0. However, there are some of Sense features that have been omitted like the 3D effects.

Camera, Connectivity and Data Speed

The HTC One V delivers the mediocre camera of 5 MP with the 720p video recording capability. The phone runs on HSDPA network to access 3G and it has the download speed of up to 2 Mbps and the upload speed of up to 1 Mbps. For the wireless connection, the device provides the Wi-Fi (hotspot) and Bluetooth 4.0 (A2DP) while for the PC sync there is a microUSB 2.0 version.

Cost, Advantages and Disadvantages

The price range of HTC One V is around $350-370 without contract. The advantages of this phone will be the comfy grip, slim design, crisp and clean display, excellent outside visibility and also the most current Android OS and Bluetooth version. However, the phone is deficient in front camera, tiny screen, not very good camera and inferior hardware specifications.
