The Humble Garden Canopy In Action

When one thinks of a garden canopy, perhaps the first thing that comes to mind is a serene garden

, sunny warm weather, and perhaps a gathering of laughing people who are celebrating or enjoying an outdoor party. Typically, these canopies are used by individuals to create an outdoor atmosphere that is perfect for parties or outdoor dining. However, there are other uses for this item involving situations that are not quite so happy.

Catastrophic events in our world are unfortunately occasionally an occurrence to be dealt with. And these types of situations often render many individuals and families homeless. The most recent disasters that our world has had to deal with were the great Haitian earthquake and the rampant flooding in Pakistan. Both involved the widespread loss of home and shelter.

While rescue aid groups worked diligently in both of these cases to do all they could for the victims involved, there groups were overwhelmed with the imminent need. One of the most urgent needs quickly became recognized as proper shelter. Local shelters were overwhelmed and overflowing, leaving many left on the streets with little protection.

This is where the humble garden canopy came into play. While no one could rebuild or give these millions of people back the homes they lost, they were able to provide a shelter, a safe haven from the surrounding turmoil. And in the involved situations, nothing could be more welcome.

These garden canopies provided a temporary shelter that was durable, and offered much needed protection from the elements. Those who were sick, old, or weak could find the haven they needed. Little children could make themselves a bed. It was amazing what the canopy could do for these who had so little and needed everything.

The canopy was ideal for this purpose as it was lightweight and easy to ship. Thousands donated money toward the cause, some worked to reproduce canopies from recycled materials in mass quantities, and many canopy manufacturers stepped up and donated more than their part to help provided these much needed shelters.
