The importance of public speaking can be demonstrated easily by the role that it

played in the election of Barrack Obama to the most powerful position on the planet. Love him or loathe him, you can not deny the powerful influence his oratory and public speaking skills played in catapulting him to the Presidential Office.

The vast majority of people have a fear of public speaking and this manifests itself in panic, anxiety, shortness of breath, dry mouth just prior to speaking to a group of people in a formal or semi formal structure.

The number of people required to induce this panic varies from person to person but that is not really relevant-if you need to make a presentation to, for example, work colleagues your fear will be not lessened by the presence of only ten people as opposed to one hundred.

Your progression in your career or in your business will be severely curtailed if you are not able to communicate effectively and professionally with your bosses, colleagues, employees, customers or bankers.

The great news is that most people do not have an innate ability to communicate well and effectively to a group of people. This skill can be learned and honed to the point where you can overcome your fear of public speaking and make huge strides in your professional life with your ability to persuade, communicate and build either your personal brand within the company or your companys brand externally.

It is hard to believe that if you currently suffer from public speaking anxiety that in a very short period of time you can no longer fear the thought of making a presentation or speaking in public to a group. But it is a certainty that you can learn the skills and techniques to dispel the fear, build your confidence and become a powerful and effective public speaker.
