Considering that the Chinese civilization is very old, it has seen many rulers and forms of governments. Since ancient times, gold is associated with good luck and is considered to be the colour of emperors. As it was considered a lucky sign, the emperors used to wear gold coloured clothes and also used to wear accessories that had gold on them or were golden coloured.

Gold was used in the architecture of palaces, castles and holy places of worship. Islamic calligraphy was also done in gold in the Muslim places of worship. Gold has amazing qualities, due to which it was used for artistic purposes. The Hindus made statues of gold of their gods and their goddesses, and worshipped them in their temples. People expressed their commitment and respect for their deities by donating gold bars.

People with a high status tend to use more gold; and gold items are considered to be a great gift. In the Chinese culture, the golden colour as well as gold are considered to be an earthly element and are a representation of wealth in the Chinese Four Pillars of Destiny.

The reason why so much significance is attached to gold is its monetary value. It retains its price forever, unlike other commodities. This is why people in India like to invest in gold, even if they can manage to do so in very small quantities. Gold is usually considered to be a status symbol, but it is actually the safest investment for a common man.

In China, gold is also used in dragons. Dragons have always been legendary figures of the Chinese civilization. They are perceived to stand for satisfaction, immortality and even fertility. These dragons reflect the beautiful craft as well as the respect that is given to them by the Chinese. These are decorated with fine material of gold and some silk hanging that indicates their significance in the Chinese culture.

The dragons are an important mythological symbol that is prevalent in the Chinese culture. Gold is also used in the making of these dragons. Gold colour is used in abundance and there are also other small pieces used on these dragons for decoration purposes. Embroidery is also done using special kind of thread that is gold plated for making these dragons as wall hangings.

Lastly, gold has always been a part of the Chinese currency. The company that is known as Mint has been dealing with Chinese commemorative coins. This company has enabled this country to develop coins with the design of the dragon embedded on it.
