You're running a marketing campaign. In support of your campaign you sent direct mail, email solicitations and have online ads running. When someone clicks to learn more or potentially buy where do you send them? You don't want to send them to your generic website. What you need to do is sent them a page that supports the particular brand and offer that drove them to the page in the first place.

Why is a landing page so important?

You already did the hard part and won the click. And now that you won the click, you have to follow through on yourpromise.The landing page should add authenticity to your promotion and focuse solely on the promotion that drove them there in the first place. When done right, the landing page will get the visitor to buy or take some form of action rapidly that will ultimately lead to a sale or qualified inquiry.

Landing Page Best Practices:

Make eye flow easy!

Keep the page simple and uncluttered.

Write copy that is compelling and support the offer.

Many landing page experts also recommend not including your site navigation at the top of the page. Elimination can reduce the number of links off of the page and keep the visitor focused on the task at hand.

Use color to highlight the most important area (the desired action).

Make sure the landing page has only one subject/focus/product.

For lead generation, always make sure the form is as short as possible and make sure it is the focal point.

Just as you would with direct mail, assign tracking codes to each individual version and track sales/leads from each.

Test, test and test again. Sometimes it's the smallest nuance that makes the biggest difference.
