The Importance of Website Planning
Our world is expanding
Our world is expanding. Literally expanding. But not in this physical world. Our world is pushing its borders towards another reality, the cyber world. And the populous part of this virtual realm is the Web.
The Web, as the World Wide Web or WWW is generally known, is a system of assorted interlinked documents through the Internet. By using a software application called a web browser, one can view these documents, called web pages. Web pages can contain texts, images, videos, sounds, and other multimedia contents, and can be navigated from a page to another through the use of hyperlinks. In March 1989, using concepts from the previous hypertext systems, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, an English engineer and computer scientist and now the World Wide Web Consortium Director, issued a proposal for what would eventually become the Web. At CERN, which is situated in Geneva, Switzerland, Berners-Lee and his colleague, Robert Cailliau, proposed the usage of hypertext to link and access information of different kinds, like nodes in a web, by which the user can navigate at his own will. The project was publicly announced in December 1990.
After some years of research, the Web was brought from the laboratories of CERN to the civilian residences across the world. By that, Web has become one of the main and most popular sources of entertainment, alongside with the television, radio and/or music player. One can look for files and information needed for research and studies, watch movies and video clips, listen to music, join social networking sites, or even do online marketing.
As a popular medium of entertainment and communication, the Web is one of the most used objects across the world. Many spend time browsing for websites and webpages. But that is on the browser's end. And in the server's end, everything is different. The number of visits in a website is very important, especially on online marketing sites where every click of a button means money. Businessmen often resort to hiring web developers and designers for
planning a website tailor-fit for their own interests.
Website planning is a very complex thing to engage in. It requires not just one, but teams of web developers and web designers to create a very efficient website. An efficient website balances being both functional and user-friendly, and having the right appeal to the browser's eyes. By that, having those two aspects of being an efficient website increases visibility in the Web.
In
planning a website, there are things to consider before creating the actual website, such as target market, demographics, design schemes, financial condition, and choosing professional developers and designers to ensure a well-placed and well-presented website in the Web. All in all, planning a website is just like having a blueprint for your house, but in a virtual world.
