Be sure that you buy a cage that has no places where the ferret's feet may get caught. Ferrets enjoy running around and playing, so if they are not put in an appropriate cage, they may get injured. Ferrets sleep about 15-20 hours per day and they enjoy hiding in dark places. Sleeping sacks and hammocks are wonderful for both sleep and play. You may also think about putting a sheet over one end of their cage to give them a quiet private place to sleep and play.

Ferrets love to chew on everything, therefore, anything that is within a ferrets reach may become hazardous to your ferret. You should inspect your ferrets cage often for anything that he may be chewing on that is getting damaged. If a ferret eats the wrong thing it will then cause an intestinal blockage and will require a surgically removal. Ferrets can be social but you must begin introducing ferrets to humans when they are about 30 days old. You should allow your ferret to get out of their cage at least two times per day, preferably in a ferret proof room. Never leave your ferret unattended when they are outside of their cage because that will put them at risk for getting hurt. The more often you hold them, the easier it will be to train them. This will also help them interact with you and ferrets love to cuddle. Ferrets are capable of using a litter box, the sooner you start training them, the higher success rate. Ferrets are fun and loving pets, the more often you interact with them and take care of them, the longer healthier of a life they will have.
